About Our Founder

Ecostreamjet was founded by Ric Shiarella, a veteran pilot and pilot instructor with eight years in private aviation. With more than 3,000 hours of flight time and over 1,500 hours teaching other pilots, Ric has an insider’s perspective on the evolution of the private aviation industry. Ric has made it his mission to be a thought leader on environmental issues and to make Ecostreamjet a pioneering advocate for change in sustainable business practices within the private aviation industry.

When Ric read that the FAA was projecting a 300% increase in hours flown aboard private jets over the next decade, he was alarmed by the impact such growth would have on the environment. It was clear to Ric that his industry must take significant steps to support the fight against global warming.

Ric also faced the realities of the aviation industry in considering how to effect change. Ecostreamjet was born from his recognition that jet aircraft are a major producer of greenhouse gases, and that he was in a position to change that trend. Ric’s conviction was that working from within the aviation industry was the most effective way to address its impact on global warming.

Ric’s in-depth industry knowledge, skills as an educator, strong relationships within the industry, and 12 years of experience as an attorney have prepared him well to lead Ecostreamjet and to become a change agent within his industry.

Ric holds the following aviation credentials and certifications:

Pilot credentials

• Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
• FAA type ratings for:
  • Hawker 400, 700 and 800 series turbojet airplanes
  • Learjet 20, 30 and 50 series
  • Learjet 60 series

Instructor credentials

• Certified Flight Instructor Certificate with Gold Seal
• FAA and JAA Instructor Pilot qualifications (to instruct both U.S. and European pilots)
• Training Center Evaluator qualification
